Candy Loft, set within Toronto’s 1907 Candy Factory Lofts. The building was once a textile mill and later a site of labour activism. It was one of the city’s first major adaptive reuse projects, catalyzing the return of residential life to the downtown core.
Drawing from the movement and machinery of factory production, the project returns that choreography to domestic life through a continuous curved armature that runs the length of the loft, allowing the space to remain open, calm and light filled.
The design preserves the factory shell, with timber columns, metal detailing and stonework. Travertine, white oak and marble define space through surface and texture.
